The Department of telecommunication technologies is continuously working on the training facilities.development . So, in the laboratory of fiber-optic communication networks located stands that simulate the construction of a passive optical access networks GEPON. At the present time, such networks implement advanced access technology, which is actively implemented JSC "Ukrtelecom" and other operators on telecommunication networks of Ukraine.This technology allows to perform the summation of the optical fiber directly to the apartment of the subscriber, and thus to provide maximum possible information and the bandwidth, i.e. the transmission speed of the line.

The transition to this technology is carried out in an industrialized country like Japan, where there is a government program with the aim to supply optical fiber to each apartment.

Laboratory work with the use of stands will allow students to meet technology-GEPON them and to master its principles.

The establishment of samples of the new equipment will allow to increase the visibility of the educational process in the optical communication networks study.

The material base of the telecommunication technologies Department allows to obtain following practical skills:

  • - welding of optical fibers;
  • - measurement of losses in optical cable with optical tester;
  • - measurement of constructive and optical parameters of optical cable and fiber-to;
  • - the power measurement of light sources of optical communication systems;
  • - work on switching jumper fiber optic equipment;
  • - work on switching equipment copper jumper cables;
  • - installation of optical coupling;
  • - measurement of the parameters of copper communication cables;
  • - carrying out emergency measurements on communication lines with a copper cable;
  • - conducting event analysis on optical reflectogram – results-reflectometer peripheral dimensions;
  • - to determine the coordination modes in a waveguide transmission lines.


A wide range of videos submitted by a number of telecommunication organizations allows us to provide students with the following processes:

  • - laying fiber optic cable in the ground;
  • - laying fiber optic cable on river crossings;
  • - laying fiber optic cable in conduit;
  • - laying fiber optic cable on the seabed and the ocean floor;
  • - the suspension optic cable on poles;
  • - welding of optical fibers;
  • - installation of optical coupling;
  • - installation of telecommunication equipment in telecommunication cabinets;
  • - installation of cross equipment;
  • - search-emergency work on the cable lines.
