Department of Computer Engineering

The Department of Computer Engineering is designed to train specialists in the field of 12 "Information Technologies" in the specialty 123 "Computer Engineering".

The field of activity of graduates of the specialty Computer Engineering is the development, deployment and maintenance of computer systems and networks, that is, the IT infrastructure of enterprises and organizations.

The object of activity of a Computer Engineering specialist is the hardware of computer systems and networks (workstations; server equipment; specialized computer systems; network equipment: switches, routers; operating systems).

             

Positions that can be held by graduates of the Department of Computer Engineering:

  • system administrator;
  • computer systems engineer;
  • computer network maintenance engineer;
  • head of the Computer Services Division;
  • IT Project Manager.

What the Department of Computer Engineering teaches

The Department of Computer Engineering forms and develops general and professional competencies of a graduate in the specialty 123 "Computer Engineering", who will be able to provide solutions to complex problems and practical problems of designing, building and configuring computer systems, use and implement computer engineering technologies.

Core competencies of partner companies:

  • knowledge of the principles of design and application of modern computer systems;
  • knowledge of the principles of design and application of intelligent systems;
  • knowledge of the principles of object-oriented programming;
  • knowledge of the functioning of hybrid computer systems;
  • knowledge of the features of building system software in order to optimize the organization of computing processes;
  • knowledge of computer-aided design of computer systems;
  • training in software development for computer systems with parallel or distributed architecture;
  • knowledge of the basics of the theory of experiment planning;
  • knowledge of algorithmic and other methods of computer modeling;
  • knowledge of modern technologies for creating software systems;
  • knowledge of the principles of building and functioning of real-time systems;
  • knowledge of logic programming languages.

 

Practical orientation of training at the Department of Computer Engineering

Already from the first year, the first semester, the first week of training, students of our department begin to study disciplines in the specialty in the following sequence: lecture -> practical lesson -> laboratory work. The percentage of practical classes in each discipline is more than 60%.

What is it for:

  • after the first year our student could solve light household tasks (to connect and configure the printer, install Windows, etc.);
  • after the second year, our students were able to solve more complex problems (fully assemble, configure and test a personal computer, etc.);
  • after the third year our students are already high enough level versed in modern equipment, can make it work and set (at this point, the majority of students are already employed);
  • after the fourth year, our student is a competitive IT specialist with international certificates (at this stage, 50% of our students already have their own IT firms or a high-paying job).

The general practical training in the specialty is 67 %.

Training at the Department of Computer Engineering takes place in modern specialized laboratories of the Cisco Academy on the latest generation equipment and using modern software and hardware complexes that were provided by the department's partner companies.

The Department of Computer Engineering is the base for cooperation with the world leader in the field of computer systems and networks equipment - CISCO.

The department actively operates the Cisco Academy and conducts certified courses as part of the educational process. The international certificate gives our student the opportunity to find a job in any company in the world and receive a high salary.

Since the first year, our students within the discipline "Hardware and software of Computer Engineering" take the course IT Essentials from CISCO, where they gain skills in the basics of IT, computer architecture, peripheral equipment, their operation and maintenance. And already at the end of the 1st course they receive a certificate.

At the senior courses in the disciplines "Computer Networks"," Computer Systems", students are trained in the network direction of CCNA: this is an Introduction to Networks, Switching, Routing, and Wireless Essentials.

The discipline "Operating Systems" is studied in the 3rd year and is aimed at studying Cisco courses on Linux operating systems
